Which app this covers
This policy applies to SynqTag only (package com.synqmusic.tagsmith). Synq and Music Check are different apps with their own policies.
What SynqTag itself collects: nothing
Your music files never leave your device. We do not operate a server, we cannot see your files, and we have no way to identify you. There is no account to create and no sign-in.
This is worth saying precisely, because SynqTag does something most apps do not: it modifies your files in place. That happens entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded before, during or after a save — not the file, not the tags, not the cover art.
Advertising — Google AdMob
The free version shows adverts supplied by Google AdMob. Google may collect:
- Advertising and device identifiers
- IP address, and approximate location derived from it (country or region level)
- Device and operating-system information
- Your interactions with adverts
Google uses this to select and measure adverts and to detect fraud. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Your choices. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, SynqTag shows Google's consent dialog before personalised adverts are used. On iOS, SynqTag does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission and therefore does not use the cross-app tracking identifier. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings → Privacy → Ads.
Buying SynqTag Pro removes all adverts permanently, and with them this entire category of data collection.
Looking up cover art and lyrics — only when you ask
Two features reach the internet, and only when you tap their button:
- Find cover art online — the song title and artist currently in the editor are sent to Apple's iTunes Search API (
itunes.apple.com) - Find lyrics online — the track name, artist and album currently in the editor are sent to LRCLIB (
lrclib.net)
That is the whole of it. The audio file is never uploaded, no identifier of yours is attached, and neither service is contacted unless you press the button. Neither lookup needs an account or an API key.
Typing lyrics in yourself and choosing artwork from your own device stay free forever and use no network at all.
Payments — Apple and Google
SynqTag Pro is sold through the App Store and Google Play. Those stores handle the payment and their own privacy policies apply. SynqTag receives only a confirmation that the unlock was purchased. No card or bank details ever reach the app or us.
What is stored on your device only
- A handle for each file you opened, plus its display name and size — not the file, and not its tags
- Whether you bought Pro, and how many of the free online lookups you have used
- A counter used to space out adverts
- The language you chose, if you set one
None of this is transmitted anywhere. Uninstalling SynqTag deletes all of it. Your music files stay where they are, with whatever tags you last saved.
Permissions
SynqTag declares no storage permission at all — not on Android, not on iOS. It reaches your music through the system file picker, which grants access to exactly the files you point at and nothing else. It cannot browse your storage, and it cannot see a file you have not chosen.
- Internet — adverts, and the two lookups in section 3
- Foreground service / media playback / prevent sleeping (Android) — to keep playing while the app is in the background
On iOS you may see a camera prompt from an advert, never from the app. SynqTag does not use the camera; adverts are web pages and a web page can ask. Refusing changes nothing about the app.
Children
SynqTag is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them — we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
